Six weeks later, you were the same person.
Same triggers. Same relationships playing out the same way. Same feeling behind closed doors that something is still not right, no matter what you build on the outside.

What I couldn’t understand yet was why it kept stopping there.

Joe’s work operates at the level of state.
Through meditation, breathwork, and the deliberate generation of elevated emotions, it trains the nervous system to access states of coherence, gratitude, and possibility that most people have never sustained for longer than a few seconds.
This is genuinely powerful.
The neuroplasticity research is real. The ability to change your brain through sustained emotional states is real. The breakthroughs people have at his events are real.
But why Joe Dispenza meditation produces results in some areas and not others comes down to one thing.
It cannot close an unresolved emotional event.
What Is an Unresolved or Incomplete Emotional Event?
Think about your phone.
Right now, somewhere in the background, you probably have apps running that you haven’t looked at in days. They’re draining your battery. Slowing your system. Running processes you didn’t authorise and aren’t even aware of.
Unresolved emotional events, or what I call incomplete emotional events, work exactly the same way.
They are moments from your past, usually from childhood, where something happened that your developing nervous system couldn’t fully process. The information required to complete the experience was missing. Your system couldn’t close the loop.
So it stayed open.
And it’s been running in the background ever since.
Every relationship that triggers you. Every program that keeps repeating no matter how much work you do. Every moment where you know better, want to do better, and still find yourself back in the same place.
That is not a mindset problem.
That is an incomplete emotional event that never got finished.
Why Joe Dispenza Meditation Doesn’t Close Incomplete Emotional Events
Why Joe Dispenza meditation functions like an operating system upgrade makes sense when you look at what it actually changes.
It creates new neural pathways. It expands your capacity for coherence. It genuinely alters the chemistry of your brain over time.
But here’s the thing about apps.
You cannot upgrade your operating system and expect the apps to close themselves.
The incomplete emotional events underneath your programs are not running at the level of state. They are running at the level of identity. At the level of the survival programs your nervous system built to keep you safe when you were young and had no other option.
Those programs do not respond to elevated emotions.
They do not dissolve in meditation.
They keep running because they were built to keep running. Because at the time they were formed, stopping felt like it might be dangerous.
Why Joe Dispenza meditation isn’t enough on its own for so many people doing the work is not complicated. It was never designed to reach this level.
The Difference Between Changing Your State and Collapsing a Program
Here is the distinction that changes everything.
State-based work asks: how can I feel differently right now?
Identity-level work asks: why does this program exist, and what does it need in order to complete?
Those are not the same question.
When you change your state, you can feel genuinely different for hours, days, even weeks. Why Joe Dispenza meditation produces real results in the short term is not in question. The retreats work. The elevated emotions are real.
But if the program underneath is still intact, the system will keep defaulting back. Not because you failed. Not because you’re doing it wrong. Because the neurology behind the program is still there, doing exactly what it was designed to do.
When the program collapses, the state changes permanently.
Not because you’re working harder to maintain it. Because there’s nothing left underneath driving you back to the old one.
What Actually Changes When the Programs Close
People who have been through this process describe the same thing.
They stop white-knuckling their way through hard conversations.
They stop needing the retreat to feel like themselves.
They stop coming home at the end of the day and closing the door on that quiet, persistent feeling that something is still wrong.
They start to like the person in the mirror.
Not because they fixed something. Because the incomplete event underneath finally got what it needed to complete.
This is not about going deeper into the meditation. It is not about more breathwork or more elevated emotion.
It is about finding the moment the app was opened, giving it the information it never got, and watching it close.
Is Joe Dispenza Meditation Wrong?
No.
Why Joe Dispenza meditation gets criticised in some circles is often for the wrong reasons. His work has genuinely transformed millions of people’s lives and the research behind it is solid.
This is about a gap that exists in all state-based approaches, including his.
If you have done the meditations, had breakthroughs, and still find yourself cycling back, it does not mean the work was a waste. It means you hit the ceiling of what state-based work can do.
The next level is not more of the same.
It is a different level of work entirely.

There is nothing wrong with you.
You are not broken, resistant, or spiritually behind. You are not failing at the work.
